Pastor Appreciation

Pastor Appreciation is a special opportunity to express our gratitude for Pastor Nancy Tuma’s faithful leadership, spiritual guidance, and care for our congregation. We encourage everyone to take a moment to thank Pastor Nancy individually with a note, card, or small gift. If you would like to contribute to a group gift from the congregation and Session, donations may be dropped off at the church office. Thank you for helping us show Pastor Nancy how much she is loved and appreciated!

FINAL WEEK!! weekday sales 2-6 pm

Saturdays 9ma-6 pm

Sundays 12pm-6pm*

We've had great results from our extended weekend hours, and many folks have kindly offered donations to our missions on top of their pumpkin purchases. We've also enjoyed the chance to chat with our neighborhood families and friends. So it's a fundraiser and an outreach.

Let's finish strong with lots of volunteers for the final week: SIGN UP HERE!

We've never looked (or sounded) so cool!!

Last Saturday morning was nothing short of magical as the Waldo Jazz Band filled the air with their melodies, creating the perfect backdrop for our pumpkin patch volunteer Jim Kurtz, Pastor Nancy Tuma, and the throng of enthusiastic runners and fans participating in the KC Garmin Marathon! The atmosphere was electric (thanks to a super-long extension cord), making it an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

Stewardship and 2027 Pledge

October is busy! In addition to our pumpkin patch fundraiser and pastor appreciation month, October is typically Stewardship month, when we reflect on our current and future giving and develop the 2027 budget and plans for our church. Please pick up your stewardship packets in the sanctuary entrance, For those remote and/or unable to pick members of our congregation--we will mail these to you.

The Universal Christ -

How a Forgotten Reality Can Change Everything We See, Hope For and Believe

“We must—yes, must—make a daily and even hourly choice to focus on the good, the true, and the beautiful.” RIchard Rohr

UB Hits another milestone 40,000 bouquets!

We got the very nice note below from Unexpected Blooms:

Dear Staff and Congregation at Ward Parkway Presbyterian

Unexpected Blooms appreciates the positive newsletter articles that you share with your parishioners and would like to share some positivity from our non-profit organization. At Unexpected Blooms, we pick up floral arrangements after they have been used for events, redesign them, and redistribute the new arrangements to individuals at various care facilities throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area.

Each arrangement we deliver has the potential to positively affect SEVEN people. Unexpected Blooms has delivered an average of 6,000 arrangements annually for the last 4 years to independent and assisted living, hospice and memory care facilities and other community partners and will hit our 40,000th since our inception of 2016 this week. This has brought over 280,000 smiles to our community.

As Unexpected Blooms has grown and had successes through grants, fundraisers, and the generosity of the community, we were able to give back by way of a donation to fund scholarships to participants in the Floral Design Certificate Program at Johnson County Community College (JCCC) for a second year.

The following press release serves to not only share the news of our scholarship fund to JCCC but to make others aware of our mission and bring many more smiles to our Kansas City metropolitan community.

Should you wish to learn more about our organization or have any questions, please reach out to Unexpected Blooms' Board Chair and President,

AJ Miller, at 816-599-8735 or info@unexpectedblooms.org

In addition to the kind note, Unexpected Blooms has announced our pumpkin patch fundraiser to all their volunteers and provided a link to our church website for all WPPC activities. What a great partner! Check out their website and plan to attend the upcoming November 14th and December 5th flower arranging classes right here at WPPC!
