Introducing Community Crime Mapping!
I am pleased to announce that the City of Blue Springs, the Blue Springs Police Department and LexisNexis Risk Solutions, recently partnered to provide a new way for the public to stay informed about crime in Blue Springs.
Users can access the new Community Crime Mapping tool by clicking here. Residents can also access the online tool by downloading the free 'My Blue Springs' app through the Apple iTunes store and the Android Google Play store.
Information provided on the map represents a wide spectrum of law enforcement activity from serious crimes to information only reports. Basic information provided includes the type of crime, date and time, crime location and the block-level address.
The system syncs with Blue Springs Police Department's records system to provide users with crime information as reports become available. The Community Crime Mapping tool uses geocoding to format the data so it can be displayed on a map, a data grid, or on an analytics dashboard. Each of these breakdowns are available to users online with the use of an electronic device of their choice.
The information provided is intended to promote community awareness and encourage the use of crime prevention measures. Users can sign up for an automated neighborhood watch report set to their specifications. These reports are generated automatically and can be received daily, weekly or monthly to the email address of your choice.
Please watch the video below to learn more about this exciting new crime prevention tool.

Shop with a Blue Springs Cop
This event partnered
Blue Springs School District students with Blue Springs Police Officers providing at-risk children an opportunity to socialize with officers in a positive atmosphere and reinforce that police officers are friends in the community.
Each year, I am impressed by our community's
support for this wonderful program. I want to recognize Council members Kent Edmondson, Susan Culpepper and Chris Lievsay for joining me this year. Thank you again to all the event sponsors and volunteers that helped make this event possible and a special thanks to KMBC channel 9 for coming out to broadcast this fun event!
