Councilmember Service Anniversary
On Monday, Dec. 7, I had the pleasure of presenting 5 year service pins to
District 1 Councilmembers Dale Carter
and Jeff Quibell (who is celebrating 7 years of service) and District 2 Councilman Chris Lievsay.
I would like to thank each of these Councilmembers for their dedication to Blue Springs!

April 2016 Elections
Residents interested in running for office to become either a Councilman or Mayor of Blue Springs can pick up application packets from City Hall.
The following terms expire in April 2016:
Mayor - Carson Ross
Councilmember District 1 - Dale Carter
Councilmember District 2 - Chris Lievsay
Councilmember District 3 - Susan Culpepper
The dates for candidate filing are Tuesday, December 15 through Tuesday, January 19. There are no term limits in Blue Springs.

Blood Donors Urgently Needed
On Monday, Dec 7 the Greater Kansas City Community Blood Center (CBC) announced a blood emergency--a shortage on blood available to donate.
Blood donors of all types are urged to donate and can click here or call 1-877-468-6844 to find a convenient date and location to give.
The entire donation process takes less than an hour, and a single donation can be used to save multiple lives. First-time donors are welcome.

2015 State Champions
I would like to give a big congratulations to
our
Blue Springs South High School
Jaguars football team for their Nov 27 win, clinching the title of 2015 State Champions.
The football team had went into the Championship game after an undefeated season and beat the Christian Brothers Cadets with a score of 37-28.
Great work bringing the trophy back to Blue Springs!

December is a busy month here in Blue Springs! In this edition, you can read more about what's going on around town including the ribbon cutting for Woods Chapel Phase II, what's new on CTV-7 and the accomplishments of our Blue Springs School District students.
The Christmas holiday will be here shortly and I wish you and your family a safe and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

On Tuesday, December 1 hundreds of Blue Springs residents joined me to light the Mayor's Christmas tree outside of City Hall.
We enjoyed a few cheery tunes from Cordill Mason 4th & 5th Grade Extracurricular Choir, Daniel Young 5th Grade Elementary Choir and the Sunny Pointe Elementary Choir.
Families enjoyed visiting Mr. and Mrs. Clause and attendees had the chance to meet area mascots.
I would like to thank Pete Grigsby from the Blue Springs School District for joining me, and a special thanks to council members Jeff Quibell, Kent Edmondson, Susan Culpepper and Chris Lievsay,with his wife and children, for helping me flip the switch to light the Christmas tree this year.
This year, guests again had the opportunity to record holiday greetings after the lighting ceremony. If you missed the tree lighting or did not catch your greeting on-air, you can view the full video below. Greetings will be aired on CTV-7 from now until January 1.

On Monday, November 30 at 2 p.m., the De Grate family, City of Blue Springs and MoDOT hosted a ceremony to rename and dedicate the diverging diamond bridge at the intersection of Woods Chapel Road and I-70 in memory of the late Public Works Director Dr. Oliver De Grate III.
