This program has been wildly successful here in Blue Springs. What you may not know is that it is operated on almost a full volunteer basis. The businesses donate their time and facility, local volunteers and StandUp Blue Springs coordinate the events and Cockrell & McIntosh Pediatrics donates funds to print the calendar of events. The City of Blue Springs helps to promote these events.

Woods Chapel Road Update
Woods Chapel Road Update
Phase I of the Woods Chapel Road project is moving full steam ahead! I am not sure if you have driven through the corridor lately, but crews have been working on bridge reconstruction, landscaping and street lights.
Right now, crews are working on:
- Crews are installing the steel for the bridge abutment and pouring the concrete pavement for the west side of the I-70 Interchange.
- Capital Electric Crews are installing street light poles in the center lane of the new concrete paving.
- Arbor Masters are installing the landscaping between the eastbound off ramp and I-70.
Phase II of the Woods Chapel Road project is also making progress. The bottom photo above shows utility crews moving their service lines to make way for construction to begin in the fall.
Diverging Diamond Interchange
| What Does A Diverging Diamond Interchange Look Like? |
We are anticipating that the Diverging Diamond Interchange will be operational this fall. That being said, we will all need to learn how to navigate through a new traffic pattern.
What is a Diverging Diamond Interchange?
The diverging diamond interchange has been a success in other locations in Missouri. Motorists diverge, or cross over to the opposite side of the highway. Drivers making left turns experience a decrease in traffic delay because the left turn becomes a "free flow" movement. This means motorists don't have to cross in front of traffic from the opposing lanes. Rear-end and left turn crashes have been reduced at locations with the diverging diamond traffic pattern.
For more information about the Diverging Diamond Interchange, click here.
