Parks Master Plan Public Meeting
6:30-8 p.m.
Freshman Center Commons
2103 NW Vesper
The Blue Springs Parks and Recreation Department is in the early stages of developing a Parks Master Plan. This plan, along with the City's Comprehensive Plan, will be used to guide long-term development of Parks facilities and will include:
- Management of open spaces
- Recreation opportunities
- Programming related to location and natural resources
The planning process will include garnering public input to give Parks the option to more effectively respond to community requests. All of this will be done in conjunction with assessing future needs concerning City parks, recreation areas, open space, and greenways.

Our City offices will have adjusted hours for the new year that you can read more about below. Please remember, while ringing in the New Year, be sure to make your own safety and the well being of others a top priority - celebrate responsibly.
As always, please continue sharing this timely publication and spreading the word about the good things in the City of Blue Springs.

BSSD Radio
On Thursday, December 17, I had the pleasure of doing a live interview on BSSD Radio with former Blue Springs South student Nick Mozer. Nick and I chatted about what makes the Blue Springs community unique and how we have been moving forward in 2015.I also had the opportunity to participate in a live giveaway of local business gifts to some lucky listeners. Check out an excerpt below from my interview below.

Development Update
The former World Liquors building located on NW State Route 7 has been completely torn down to make room for Andy's Frozen Custard, a restaurant that will be opening soon in that area. A traffic study done during the planning and permitting process showed numerous accidents in the area and worsening traffic congestion. To address this, City will be working with MoDot to lengthen the current median, providing dedicated lanes for north and southbound traffic. Construction on the median is expected to begin this spring. |
Winter Weather Update
The colder weather and snow have arrived and it is imperative that you know what snow route your street is on. Click here
to view the City's snow removal maps and
how streets are prioritized and cleared during our snow removal process.
Check out this video from MoDot showing how you can avoid snow piles at the end of your driveway.
Help us help you! Please move vehicles off the street whenever possible. Parked cars pose an obstruction to snow removal operations during the storm, then leave snow packed areas after they are moved.
