The City of Billings achieved LEED Gold certification for implementing practical and measurable strategies and solutions aimed at improving sustainability and the standard of living for residents. This accomplishment measures and tracks outcomes and is evaluated against key metrics that include energy, water, waste, transportation, education, health, safety, prosperity, and equitability. Several community leaders spoke at the LEED Gold certification announcement, including Big Sky Economic Development's Executive Director, Steve Arveschoug. Steve shared the economic impact this certification and the standards we uphold with it will have on our community now and in the future.

Montana BioScience Alliance Careers in Healthcare Student Summit
On Friday, December 2nd the Montana BioScience Alliance hosted the Careers in Healthcare Student Summit. Students from Senior, West, Skyview, and the Career Center were invited to attend the summit to hear from a panel of healthcare recruiters about resume and interview best practices, as well as what recruiters look for when hiring candidates. Following the panel, students rotate through 4 different areas of MSUB's Student Union Building to hear from representatives in various areas of healthcare careers. These careers were broken up by the level of education needed to have the job (high school, 2 year or certificate, 4 year, and 4+ years).

Big Sky Economic Development's Director of Marketing & BillingsWorks, Marcell Bruski, was among the committee of individuals that put together this event. BillingsWorks has a strong commitment to supporting education and career connection and is always eager to support career exploration events, such as this one!
Rock31 Coworking Space Transforms into Holiday Market
Friday, December 2nd was the Downtown Billings Holiday Stroll, and one of the many events during the stroll was the High School Holiday Market located inside Big Sky Economic Development and Valley Credit Union. This pop-up market featured high school entrepreneur students from Senior, West, Skyview, and the Career Center, selling products they have been working on in their entrepreneurship or business classes throughout the semester. There were over 70 students placed throughout the two locations!

Alongside the student entrepreneurs, was artist Karyn Mehus selling prints of her artwork - some of which is on display on the 2nd floor mezzanine inside the BSED Building!

Action Electric started in 1985 as a small Electrical Service Company and have continued to earn our community’s trust over 37 years. In that time, we have grown to a company that includes an Estimating and Electrical Design team, Service Department, new Commercial Projects Department providing wiring and design for all large and small projects, new Residential Housing Department, and providing team support for Design Build Projects. We founded our own 4-year Apprenticeship Training School approved by the State of Montana to better educate, train and provide safety for our future Journeyman electricians.
