ALF Chairman H. Dan Fisk confirmed the appointment and welcomed Silvergate Capital Corporation's Chairman Daniel Unkovic to ALF's Advisory Council at its Board of Directors and Council meeting held on May 14th in Washington, D.C.
Recognizing ALF's founding in January 1977 as a Pennsylvania non-profit corporation, Fisk expressed his pleasure in appointing a young professional Pittsburgh native of notable stature to ALF's leadership team.
Daniel Unkovic served as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer at BPU Investment Management, and as President of BPU Capital Markets, from 2015 through 2020. BPU was a dually registered broker dealer and investment advisor that provided institutional fixed income trading, investment banking, wealth management and corporate retirement plan services. He led the successful process to sell both entities to a private equity firm in 2020.
Starting in 2019, he began to work for The Stilwell Group and has continued to work with Stilwell and their related entities in various capacities through today. In his work with Stilwell, he has been responsible for approximately $1.2 billion in transactions ranging from public company mergers, subsidiary dispositions, corporate borrowing facilities to major asset sales. He has also been the lead business decision maker in over ten complex corporate litigation matters. In addition to his work with Stilwell, he oversees various personal and family investment vehicles that include public / private equity and debt securities, and private equity / venture capital partnerships.
Daniel currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Capital Foundry and Argent Liquidating Trust. In 2024, he was appointed by the President Pro Tempore of the Pennsylvania State Senate to serve as the Senate Republican appointee to the Board of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). In 2026, he began serving as the Chairman of the Board of Silvergate Capital Corporation. (OTC: SICP)
Born and raised in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area, Dan was educated at Mercer University with a degree in Economics. He currently resides in Pittsburgh with his wife, a practicing medical doctor in Pittsburgh, and two young sons.
