NEWS RELEASE - WEDNESDAY, APRIL 22, 2026

The Town of Swansboro has determined that it is in the best interest of the Town to cancel the previously announced “Swansboro Showdown: Water Fight 2026,” which had been scheduled for May 1 at Swansboro Municipal Park.

Following a review with the Town’s insurance provider, it was concluded that the event presented safety and liability concerns that could not be reasonably addressed within the scope of a Town sponsored public event. Based on this review, the Town has decided not to move forward.

This decision is not a reflection of the Swansboro High School Senior Class of 2026, whose creativity, enthusiasm, and community involvement are greatly appreciated. The cancellation is based solely on operational and risk considerations, not on the students or their intentions.



The Town of Swansboro thanks all involved for their understanding and remains committed to supporting future activities and events that can be conducted safely and responsibly.
