City Council meetings between January 29 and February 2 cancelled
January 26, 2024

In response to the security incident at Edmonton City Hall on January 23, the following Council meetings from January 29 to February 2 are cancelled.

The meetings include:
  • January 29 - City Council Public Hearing
  • January 30 and 31 - City Council
  • February 2 - Special City Council

Council business scheduled to occur during these meetings will be rescheduled as soon as possible. New dates will be announced once confirmed.

“Public decision-making meetings are valuable because the efforts of Administration, the governance of City Council and the feedback of Edmontonians come together to build our community. It is a priority for the City that meetings can resume in a timely and safe manner,” said Andre Corbould, City Manager. “We recognize that the recent event was distressing and frightening for those present in City Hall, and we will ensure appropriate arrangements are in place for people to return safely.”

Restoration work is underway, and both City Hall and its parkade remain closed. The City of Edmonton looks forward to eventually welcoming the community back to the open, inclusive and safe space we all know City Hall to be.
