City announces recipients for anti-racism grants
November 22, 2021

City Council has approved nearly $215,000 in grants to help non-profit and local grassroots organizations develop anti-racism projects and events.

The City’s Anti-racism Advisory Committee launched the grant program earlier this year as part of its mandate to raise awareness and drive action on racism and anti-racism in Edmonton. A total of 52 eligible applications were received, with 16 grants being awarded.

"I'm really appreciative for the dedication and hours the volunteers of the Anti-racism Advisory Funding Subcommittee demonstrated when helping bring a community-based, anti-racist lens to the creation of this new grant program,” said Shalini Sinha, Chair of the Anti-racism Advisory Committee. “We are delighted to help put resources to BIPOC-led community initiatives which will make a difference to illuminating and challenging racism in Edmonton."
