The City of Edmonton has launched two new online tools for citizens who have concerns about COVID-related bylaw violations and physical distancing requirements.
The first tool allows citizens who have concerns about COVID-19 order violations to submit their complaints
online
. These restrictions include new requirements on vehicle-for-hire services, playground closures and dog park restrictions.
The City has also created an
online form
for citizens to log their concerns about physical distancing. These reports will only be used for analyzing and tracking purposes and to inform future planning efforts and operational decisions related to COVID-19.
Complaints on self-isolation restrictions, mass gatherings and workplaces or businesses not complying with closures should be directed to the Alberta Health Services
complaints form
.
“We want to thank Edmontonians for taking up the call to maintain physical distance and for following these new COVID-19 orders. We’re all in this together,” said David Aitken, Co-Chair, COVID-19 Task Team. “Protecting your health and safety remains the City of Edmonton's first priority and these tools will help us in that effort.”
Enforcement
The City is encouraging voluntary compliance and is focusing on educating citizens found violating any orders but will write tickets when appropriate.
- 283 verbal warnings were issued at dog parks on April 4 and 5 to inform owners that dogs must be on a leash
- 50 verbal warnings were issued in the last two days about playground closures
- 28 vehicles for hire were stopped on April 2 and all were in compliance with the new rules and regulations

The City of Edmonton’s 311 service remains available for citizens seeking information about COVID-19 requirements. From April 3 to 5, 311 operators took 646 calls related to COVID-19. The majority were related to service changes and questions about parking, assistance for vulnerable populations and details on the local state of emergency.
City Hall Parkade
City Hall Parkade will be closed to the public starting Tuesday morning in order to maintain the safety and security of the premises. Free parking is available in curbside EPark zones and City-owned EPark lots to provide relief and ensure safe movement for Edmontonians who are out for essential reasons.
