Edmonton Transit Service (ETS), in collaboration with local partners, is welcoming people to transit and encouraging residents to use the service to explore their city and connect with their communities. The multi-faceted “Rediscover ETS” campaign, which launches today, aims to boost ridership and support downtown vibrancy by inspiring riders to explore attractions and events across the city.

“We’re committed to delivering a service that connects Edmontonians to people and places that are meaningful to them,” said Sarah Feldman, director, business integration and workforce development of Edmonton Transit Service. “This campaign is an effort to encourage riders to use transit in ways other than from going to school or the office.”
The campaign will run throughout the summer and will include campaign materials that will be visible across the city, including throughout the transit system, on billboards and in office buildings.

Almost 20 local businesses, attractions and events are supporting the campaign by donating prizes or offering discounts, promoting transit as a budget-friendly way to travel, and highlighting the many exciting activities and sights in Edmonton.

“As transit riders go out into their communities to support local businesses and events, we want transit to be a part of their journey,” said Feldman.

An ETS Street Team will be onsite at various locations and events throughout the city, connecting with Edmontonians to promote public transit and assisting riders on their journeys. Their presence will also activate and enliven transit spaces to help deliver a positive experience and create connections on transit while building perception of ETS as a community-minded service.

Edmontonians are encouraged to follow ETS on social media to find out where the ETS Street Team is on location. A series of social media contests will encourage riders to share where they are going on ETS and provide opportunities to win prizes donated from various attractions and businesses around the city.

ETS is committed to delivering service that connects Edmontonians to people, places, communities and events across the city. Increased transit ridership will help us achieve broader City Plan goals by helping build a sense of community and belonging among Edmontonians, enhance community safety and wellbeing, preserve our environment, and contribute to a vibrant downtown.
