Edmonton welcomes spring with annual street sweeping
April 6, 2023

City of Edmonton crews will start citywide street sweeping on Monday, April 11, weather permitting.

“Once a year, the City of Edmonton provides street cleaning services to clear debris and dust from roads, bike lanes and major pathways, making them cleaner and safer for all modes of transportation,” said Val Dacyk, General Supervisor of Infrastructure Field Operations. “We really appreciate residents moving their vehicles, as it allows our crews to complete the work efficiently. We encourage residents to sign up online for notifications of when street sweeping is scheduled in their area.”

Street sweeping will run Monday to Friday, 24 hours a day. Residential roads will be the focus during weekdays, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and high-volume roads will be completed at night. Crews will start by sweeping debris from boulevards onto roads, and then they will sweep the debris off the roads. 'No parking' signs will be posted in your area when street sweeping is taking place.

Residents and business owners can help by removing driveway ramps from the curb when cleaning crews are in the area. Workers will avoid driving over ramps that are left out to avoid damage, but this will mean missing the area for cleaning and impacting the overall completion of the neighbourhood. Street sweeping is expected to be completed by June 1.
