New bus routes being finalized with public feedback
October 12, 2018

Edmonton’s proposed new bus routes will be more direct, buses will come more frequently and the redesigned system will connect people to the places they want to go. Initial concepts were presented and refined after engagement in the Spring. Edmontonians are now invited to complete an online survey or attend a drop-in community workshop to share their thoughts with transit planners about the final draft bus route network, from October 25 until December 9, 2018.

“Edmontonians are passionate about their transit service and shared a lot of suggestions with us,” says Eddie Robar, Branch Manager of Edmonton Transit Service. “Our transit planning team spent the summer carefully reviewing all of the input and I’m pleased to say we adjusted about 20 percent of the proposed routes to better meet transit customer needs.”

Some of the changes include:
  • Ensuring the walking distance to bus stops is no more than five to seven minutes in most neighbourhoods
  • Adjusting community bus routes to serve more popular destinations
  • Revamping the entire Castle Downs bus network to provide better connection to local transit centres

Residents can share their perspectives at 13 workshops throughout the city, including four at Engage Edmonton events which also feature engagement opportunities about other city projects. The events are easy to reach and include children’s activities and free snacks. Visit edmonton.ca/newbusroutes or call 311 to see a complete list of workshop locations and times.
