City of Ventura News Release
All City of Ventura parks and beaches remain closed over the holiday weekend

Ventura, Calif. - As directed by the County’s “ Stay Well at Home ” order and guidance from State and local officials, the City of Ventura reminds everyone that all local parks and beaches remain closed until further notice and cannot be used for any type of group gatherings. This includes the Promenade, Pier, and Wastewater Treatment Plant wildlife ponds.

“We know this is difficult to hear, especially since Easter weekend is traditionally a time of celebration with family and friends. But now, more than ever, we urge the community to abide by public health orders, avoid public gatherings and celebrate responsibly at home,” said City Manager Alex McIntyre. “On behalf of a grateful city, thank you Ventura for your ongoing understanding and sacrifice as we adapt to this fluid situation and collectively fight to flatten the curve.”

With parks and beaches closed, Easter will be different this year, but it can still be great. Here are five ideas for planning an Easter to remember:
  1. Enjoy virtual celebrations with family and friends using group chats,
  2. Stream an online church service,
  3. Remember small and local businesses for delivery or curbside pickup,
  4. Set up an egg hunt in your backyard – OR
  5. Teach your kids how to whip up some festive holiday treats.

On April 1, 2020, the City of Ventura announced the closure of all parks and beaches until further notice to support the urgent need for physical distancing during the COVID-19 emergency period. This includes the Promenade, Pier, and Wastewater Treatment Plant ponds.

Signs, barricades, and fencing around all City parks and beaches continue to be posted to discourage crowds and remind the public of important closures throughout Ventura.

The public is reminded to follow the advice of County Public Health officials and stay home, wash your hands frequently, practice physical distancing, and wear a face covering or homemade mask when conducting essential activities.
