FREDERICKSBURG, VA -- December 10, 2025 -- Central Rappahannock Regional Library’s IdeaSpace: Making + Media facility is celebrating its 5-year anniversary on Wednesday, December 17. The public is invited to commemorate this milestone, with a brief recognition ceremony at 4:00 PM, followed by light refreshments.
IdeaSpace continues the library’s mission of inspiring lifelong learning by offering unique educational opportunities that empower creative exploration through hands-on maker technology.

Accessible Technology: IdeaSpace offers 3D printers, Glowforge laser cutters, a professional sound booth for audio/video recording, embroidery and sewing machines, and more. Library staff provide training, and once badged, customers can use the equipment free of charge.

Skill Building: Since opening, over 500 customers have earned more than 2,300 equipment badges, allowing them to use the equipment independently for their own creative projects.

Educational Opportunities: Beyond basic training, IdeaSpace offers hands-on classes and events to demonstrate practical uses of the equipment and expand awareness of what is possible. Through community partnerships, the library gains access to outside expertise, thereby expanding the range of skills offered.
