Library Expands Offerings for Children with Special Needs
Fredericksburg, Virginia, December 11, 2018 - Central Rappahannock Regional Library (CRRL) now offers two Grow a Reader classes for children on the autism spectrum and with other special needs.

CRRL's new Grow a Reader class, Creative Minds, begins this week on Thursday, December 13, at Salem Church Branch, 4:00-5:00 p.m. Creative Minds will offer self-guided learning stations presented in a supportive environment and is designed for children with autism and other special needs in grades K-6 and their caregivers. The new class will be held the second Thursday of each month at Salem Church Branch in partnership with Paragon Autism Services.

CRRL's ongoing Grow a Reader class, Sensory Time, will continue at Howell Branch at a new time, 4:30-5:00 p.m., beginning Thursday, January 3. This class offers stories, songs, and activities to support early literacy practices in an environment that adapts to children on the autism spectrum and with other developmental challenges. Sensory Time is for youth of all ages with a caregiver and will be held the first Thursday of each month.
