Library's IdeaSpace Facility Recognized with Preservation Spark Award
Fredericksburg, Virginia, April 6, 2022 - Central Rappahannock Regional Library's IdeaSpace: Making+Media facility received a 2022 Preservation Spark Award from Historic Fredericksburg Foundation, Inc. This award is in recognition of the successful reuse of an underutilized building in the industrial section of Princess Anne Street as a vibrant addition to the corridor leading into historic downtown.

IdeaSpace: Making+Media is located at 1616 Princess Anne Street Suite B, Fredericksburg 22401 and offers:
  • Equipment for use onsite, including a sound booth for audio/video recording, drawing tablets, a 3D scanner, serger sewing machine, laser cutter, and 3D printers
  • Badging sessions where customers can be trained on equipment, such as 3D printers, then can reserve the equipment for their own projects
  • Tech on the Go items for checkout, including audio recorders, ring lighting kits, soundboards, and video cameras
  • Pepper the Robot, a humanoid robot programmed to greet customers and answer questions
  • Sharing of original music performed in the sound booth on CRRL's social media
IdeaSpace was made possible due to the generous support of the Fredericksburg Economic Development Authority, the Fredericksburg Cable Commission, and the Duff McDuff Green, Jr. Fund of The Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region.
