a series of public events and the opening of the Library's new special exhibition: "D-Day: FDR and Churchill's 'Mighty Endeavor'" over Memorial Day Weekend

On Friday, May 24, at 7:00 p.m. in the Henry A. Wallace Center at the FDR Presidential Library and Home, the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum will present its
16th annual USO Show. Patterned after the WWII-era shows put on to entertain American troops serving around the globe, this year's show will feature two hours of entertainment including live Big Band music from the 1930s and 40s, comedy and juggling, historic newsreels, and much more. This evening of family entertainment is the kick-off event for the Memorial Day Weekend programs at the Roosevelt Library and Home. Pre-registration is required for this event as seating is limited.

SPECIAL EXHIBITION: "D-Day: FDR and Churchill's 'Mighty Endeavor'"
On Saturday, May 25, the Roosevelt Library
opens a new major special exhibition, "D-Day: FDR and Churchill's Mighty Endeavor" (runs until January 6, 2020). The exhibit marks the 75th anniversary of the Allies' greatest military achievement, the June 6, 1944 invasion of Normandy. Code-named Operation OVERLORD it sealed the fate of Adolf Hitler's Nazi regime. This exhibit explores a friendship between Franklin D. Roosevelt and Winston Churchill -- often called the most important of the twentieth century. Forged amid the most devastating war in human history, it has attained an almost mythic status. The complexity of their "special relationship" is revealed in the top-secret communications that flowed back and forth across the Atlantic as they debated and decided on the greatest amphibious assault in the annals of war.

WORLD WAR II ENCAMPMENT & MILITARY DISPLAYS
On Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26, the Roosevelt Library and The Duffle Bag of Patterson, New York, will present a weekend of historic military displays and a World War II encampment on the Library's front lawn. Re-enactors in battle dress will be on hand to share their love of history with the visiting public. Collections of military uniforms, weapons, and insignia from 1917 to the present day will be displayed. Customized dog tags will be available for purchase, and period military vehicles will be on display. To celebrate the opening of the FDR Library's new special exhibition "D-Day: FDR and Churchill's 'Mighty Endeavor'" several participants will display D-Day-related exhibits.

FIELD OF HONOR® FLAG DISPLAY
From Saturday, May 25 through Monday, May 27, the Hyde Park Education Foundation will host a Field of Honor® flag display at the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site. Hundreds of American flags will fly in a patriotic display honoring veterans, first responders and hometown heroes. Visit

ROSE GARDEN MEMORIAL SERVICE
On Memorial Day, May 27, the National Park Service will host a graveside memorial service at 1:30 p.m. in the Rose Garden at the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site. Various community organizations will be presenting wreaths in honor of President Roosevelt, including American Legion Post #1303, American Legion Post #1466 (presenting a wreath on behalf of the USS Roosevelt DDG 80), Town Of Hyde Park, Dutchess County, The Eleanor Roosevelt Val-Kill Partnership, The Eleanor Roosevelt Center at Val-Kill, the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library, and the National Park Service.

The National Park Service administers the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Sites in Hyde Park, New York.
