Newton Branch's 25th Anniversary

Fredericksburg, Virginia, February 17, 2026 - Central Rappahannock Regional Library's Blake T. Newton Memorial Branch in Westmoreland County is celebrating 25 years of service on Wednesday, February 25. There will be a brief ceremony at 4:00 with refreshments, which the community is invited to attend.

First opening its doors as the Hague Branch in 2021, the facility was renamed in 2001 to honor the enduring legacy of Blake T. Newton. A distinguished lawyer, educator, and Virginia State senator representing Westmoreland County, Newton was a pivotal figure who courageously championed public education.

“We are so grateful for this partnership with Westmoreland County in meeting community needs and making a meaningful difference in people’s lives,” stated Library Executive Director Rebecca Purdy.

“In a rural community where access matters, Newton Branch keeps daily life moving, whether it is internet for remote work and school, a trusted copier for local churches and teachers, or help sending electronic paperwork,” noted Branch Manager Aimee Dillon.

Newton Branch offers a wide range of classes and events for all ages, from Grow a Reader Storytime Specials to yoga and a monthly book club, inspiring curiosity in the community’s youngest residents while keeping adults engaged, energized, and connected through learning and shared experiences.
