Eric Weaver Joins City First Enterprises as Senior Advisor
Mr. Weaver has more than three decades of experience in bringing resources to underserved credit markets
We are excited to welcome Eric Weaver to CFE's team. Eric founded Opportunity Fund in 1992 and led the organization until 2017. Under his leadership, the organization became one of the largest microlenders in the country, with a portfolio under management exceeding $100 million. Today, the fund (now known as Accion Opportunity Fund after joining forces with the U.S. Accion Network) lends to more than 2,000 borrowers annually, 80% of whom are women, immigrants, or people of color. With its other investments in community facilities and affordable housing projects, Opportunity Fund surpassed $1 billion in cumulative community investment last year. Eric recently moved back to his home state of Maryland, after 30 years in California.
“Eric is a national leader in the community economic development field. Through his work building an organization that directly addresses the racial, gender, and socioeconomic gaps in access to capital, Eric has transformed the CDFI sector as we know it. We are beyond thrilled to leverage his intellect and expertise in the communities we serve.” Oswaldo Acosta, CEO

“I’m excited to join a CDFI working to bring economic mobility to the metro region where I grew up. I got my start in community economic development as a tenant organizer in D.C., and I’m excited to be back.” – Eric Weaver
In his role as Senior Advisor, Mr. Weaver will support CFE's program development and advancement, providing his expertise on partnership building, geographic expansion, and overall strategic direction for the organization. He is a graduate of Harvard College and has an MBA from Stanford University.
