The City of San Gabriel will celebrate Cinco de Mayo at its third annual Cinco de Mayo Mercado at the historic Mission Playhouse Plaza on May 3 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
A festive celebration free to all, Cinco de Mayo Mercado celebrates Mexican and Latin American culture with live performances from mariachi band Las Colibri, cumbia group Spaghetti Cumbia and folklorico dance group Sol de Fuego Folklorico.
Guests will also experience a variety of cuisines ranging from traditional Mexican tacos to Latin-Vietnamese fusion food. There will also be a beer garden offering a variety of beer, micheladas, and margaritas from Kalaveras Restaurant as well as local brews from San Gabriel’s very own Ogopogo Brewing.
Local artisans will also be on hand, showcasing authentic crafts and fine art honoring Latin American culture and heritage in the heart of the San Gabriel Mission District, just footsteps away from the San Gabriel Mission.
San Gabriel’s Cinco de Mayo Mercado will be housed in front of the opulent San Gabriel Mission Playhouse located at 320 South Mission Drive, with free parking available in several lots surrounding the Mission District. The event is an excellent opportunity to make connections across cultures with a fresh and interactive Cinco de Mayo event that emphasizes culture and art.
