Raleigh, N.C. — The latest revenue forecast, updated following April tax returns, shows an additional availability of $2.6 billion when compared to the certified budget. North Carolina was originally projected to collect $68.5 billion in general fund revenue over the fiscal biennium, but that has been revised to $71.1 billion.
Senate Leader Phil Berger (R-Rockingham) released the following statement in response to the latest revenue forecast:
“For years, we’ve seen these revenue forecasts significantly underestimate our state’s economic outlook. North Carolina’s economy is strong, and we continue to bring in substantial revenue surpluses thanks to Republican-led tax and budget policies. Our formula of low taxes, responsible spending, and reasonable regulations has led to one of the most prosperous decades in our state’s history.”
