Christmas Special Offering

The annual Disciples Christmas Special Offering will be received in many congregations on December 15th and 22nd. This offering supports our Regional Ministries and all donations made in Mid-America congregations will stay right here in our Region. Associate Regional Minister Phil Snider has prepared videos in two different formats and we encourage all to share them in worship, on your websites, and in your social media.

Women Empowering Women in Ministry

The Mid-America Region is excited to launch in 2025 a new focus of Women Empowering Women in Ministry. We invite all women serving in ministry across the Region to this first gathering where we'll have the chance to listen, share, and learn how we can better support one another. Please join us on Monday, January 13, 2025 from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm at First Christian Church in Boonville. Lunch will be served. Please RSVP to Associate Regional Minister for Women's Ministries Jennifer Long by January 1. Learn more>

Advent Bible Study in Wheeling

Rev. Ron Routledge led a three-week Bible study for Advent at the Wheeling CC and had about eighteen people attend each week. They began the gathering with desserts and fellowship and then studied Christmas: Hope, Light, and Joy. It was a sacred time - church at its best. Thanks to Pastor Leon Bryant for hosting, and everyone who participated.

DHM Receives Grant for Children Worship & Wonder

Disciples Home Missions (DHM) recently received news that it has received a $1,240,000 grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. to help strengthen and expand DHM’s Children Worship & Wonder program. With this grant, DHM will transform and expand the program into Children, Worship, Wonder & Welcome! The key components of the expansion will be reducing financial barriers for smaller congregations, increasing the program’s welcome for those with disabilities, attending to the needs of a more diverse church, and increasing worship participation through music. Read the whole announcement here>

Funeral Services Saturday

Mid-America mourns the loss of Rev. Greg Turner who passed away on December 14. Rev. Turner had served as the pastor of First Christian Church in Lebanon (500 S Madison Ave) since 2007. His funeral service will be held there on Saturday, December 21 at 10 am. Visitation will be Friday evening, December 20, at Holman-Howe Funeral Home from 5 – 7 pm.

We celebrate his life, appreciate his services, and pray for his family, especially his wife Mary Jane.

Fundraising Dinner & Dancing 1/25

Burns Night is returning for a third year at First Christian Church in Columbia! FCC will host a formal dinner & ceilidh (think: contra dancing) on Saturday, January 25 as a fundraiser for their 2025 youth mission trip to Memphis. A traditional Scottish celebration, Burns Night is a commemoration of the Romantic poet Robert Burns. More so, it is an opportunity to don your fanciest kilt, try some haggis, and dance the night away! Tickets can be purchased online at firstchristian.org/burnsnight. For questions or to donate, email Associate Minister Topher Endress.
