Last Lectio at 11

Advent is Zooming by (pun intended!) and everyone is welcome to come together via Zoom next Tuesday at 11:00 am for the final gathering of our online Advent spiritual journey. This time of centering, reflection, and prayer has been a blessing and we invite you to be a part of it. Even if you've not participated before, please join us for this special time of grounding and refreshing as we focus on the first chapter of Luke. Just click on this link to join us!

Mustaches for Mission

St. Charles Christian Church turned "No Shave November" into a mission challenge. They keep a Christmas Jar of donations to benefit students in their local Orchard Farm school district. In November, those contributions were bolstered by members voting for their favorite beard-grower in the congregation.

It was no surprise that the fun activity raised money and awareness for the special outreach. There was, however, an unexpected result in their traditional worship service - a group of women donned fake facial hair and stole the show!

What If?

It's amazing what can happen when we allow/challenge ourselves to ask this deceptively short question. Having been inspired by "The Spirituality of Creativity" workshop by Rev. Brian Kirk and Johnathan Loesch at Regional Assembly earlier this year, FCC Republic Senior Pastor Lee Young posed it to their worship committee and then watched the Spirit move.

While he was on sabbatical, they worked together to create this beautiful artwork based on their Advent sermon theme of making room in our lives. It will be an integral and interactive part of their Christmas Eve worship service.

Lee also serves on our Mid-America Regional board. Read his whole post about why he loves the Church!

Prayer Vigil Invitation

The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) invites all Regions and congregations to join in continuous prayer on January 25, February, 25, and March 25, 2025.

We are excited about this opportunity to be prayerfully united, though physically separated, and encourage congregations to create a schedule of participants to fill these dates with prayer. See full explanation/invitation from FCC Kirksville's Rev. Tim Polley>

Springfield Regional Office Moved

With deep gratitude for South Street CC hosting us for many years in a beautiful space, we recently re-located our Springfield Office onto the Drury University campus in Bay Hall. We are strengthening our mutual history and bonds with the leadership at Drury and will be establishing a ‘Disciples on Campus’ gathering in January for all DOC faculty and students. We invite those congregations who have students attending Drury to let us know so we can include them in this new ministry on campus.

Christmas Special Offering

The annual Disciples Christmas Special Offering will be received in many congregations on December 15th and 22nd. This offering supports our Regional Ministries and all donations made in Mid-America congregations will stay right here in our Region. Associate Regional Minister Phil Snider has prepared videos in two different formats and we encourage all to share them in worship, on your websites, and in your social media.
