The  icon writing group  meets every Friday at 12:00 pm and on Saturday at 10:00 am. Orthodox Christians consider making icons more a form of prayer than art and believe the writer's hand is guided by God as s/he writes in paint. No previous artistic ability is needed. The Thursday Book Study  begins again on January 10, at 1:00 pm. We will be reading Lamb, The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal.

Episcopal Church  101 is a six-week study for anyone wishing to know more about the Episcopal Church, either in preparation for being confirmed, received or reaffirmed. The class will begin on Tuesday, January 22, and meet each week at 5:30 pm, in the Parish Hall Contact: Mtr. Becky at [email protected]

Confirmation Class for Upper High School for youth 16 and older, who would like to be confirmed on March 10, during the Bishop's visit, will start in mid-January. Mother Katie will lead the classes. If you would like to join the confirmation group, Please contact Mother Katie at  [email protected]

A First Communion Class will be taught by Mother Katie beginning in March. If you have a child interested in this learning opportunity, please let Mother Katie know by contacting her at  [email protected] by January 27.

Youth Group for our 6th-12th graders meets every Sunday from 12:30-2:30pm in the parish house. We have lunch, play games, and engage in scripture, tradition, and discussion. Our next meeting will be on Sunday, January 6. Contact: Mother Katie at  [email protected]

The St. Athanasius Feed My Sheep Food Pantry needs your non-perishable food donations to help restock the shelves after Christmas. Please bring your packaged and canned food items to St. Ignatius and to the Christ Church Parish Hall this coming weekend and throughout the month.

 Every year during the season of Christmas, the International Seafarers' Center spreads the love of Christ through their Christmas at Sea program. About 1500 seafarers travel through the port of Brunswick from Thanksgiving to January 7th and the Center hopes to give every seafarer a Christmas present. If you'd like to be part of this ministry, it's as easy as filling a shoebox with 12 - 15 item from the list found  here, wrapping the box in holiday paper and bringing it to either the church office in the Parish Hall, or to the International Seafarers Center, at 307 Newcastle Street in Brunswick. If you'd like to include a warm knit cap, made by our Christ Church Comforters in your box, please contact Gay Barron at [email protected].

The Christ Church Comforters gather the second Friday of each month, at 10:30 am, in the parish hall. Prayer shawls and watch caps are blessed and given to those experiencing challenges as a symbol of the church's love and concern for them. Next meeting is January 11, 2019. Christ Church parishioner June Brown is once again sharing her extensive collection of nativities at the Arthur J. Moore Methodist Museum at Epworth by the Sea. Live Poets Society meetings give those with a literary bent an opportunity to discuss their efforts with others who share their talents and interests. Make plans to join us for the Annual Meeting, Chili Cook-Off and Children's Baking Battle, which will take place on January 27, at 6:00 pm, in the Parish Hall. If you would like to enter in the Chili Cook-off, please bring your entry, heated and ready to eat, by 5:45 pm in a crock-pot, or bring a salad, sandwiches, bread, cornbread, chips or a dessert. 

Attention kids!! Please bring six of your best homemade cookies to the Parish Hall between 5:45 and 6:00 pm, on Jan. 27th, to be part of the competition. The results of the Vestry election will be announced during the Annual Meeting.

The Frederick Cousins Guild Oyster Roast and Barbecue will take place on Friday, February 8, 2019, beginning at 6:00 pm, in the parish hall and on the church grounds. Oysters, barbecue, Brunswick stew, dessert and complimentary libations will be served. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door for adults and $5 for children. They will be on sale at the church office and at coffee hour in the parish hall on Sundays preceding the event. All proceeds will go to support local and international charities. Georgia Interfaith Power and Light (GIPL) will host Theologian Matthew Fox on January 17, 2019 from 10 AM - 12:30 PM at St. Simons Presbyterian Church, 205 Kings Way, St. Simons Island, GA 31522. 

Order of the Sacred Earth: A Conversation with Michael Fox is meant to  inspire environmental champions and people of faith in St. Simons Island and across Georgia.  

Fox will offer a lecture on the Christian, moral obligation to care for all Creation, followed by lunch and casual conversation on how to take action.

An internationally acclaimed spiritual theologian, Episcopal priest, and activist who was a member of the Dominican Order for 34 years, Matthew Fox holds a doctorate, summa cum laude, in the History and Theology of Spirituality from the Institut Catholique de Paris and has devoted 45 years to developing and teaching the tradition of Creation Spirituality, which is rooted in ancient Judeo-Christian teaching.
