Rector's Ramblings

Father Tom will not be Rambling today, but will share his thoughts again next week.

O Lord, support us all the day long,
until the shadows  lengthen, and the evening comes,
and the busy world is  hushed,
and the fever of life is over,
and our work is done.
Then in thy mercy, grant us a safe lodging,
and a holy rest,
and peace at the last.  Amen.

Icon Writing Workshop - August 25-30IconWorkshop
The fourth annual icon writing workshop will be held August 25-30  in the Christ Church parish hall. The instructor this year is Kara Nelson. Icon writing is much more than learning to paint an icon, a painting depicting Jesus, Mary, angels or saints. Orthodox Christians consider making icons more a form of prayer than art and believe the writer's hand is guided by God as s/he writes in paint. The group will work from  4:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday - Thursday, and 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on Friday, but you may work more or less as your eyes, body and soul are so inclined. Each day will begin with a brief worship and Eucharist filled with instruction about icons. The cost is $375. No previous experience is needed and all materials will be furnished. Just bring a lunch and a willingness to learn. To register, call the church office at 912-638-8683. For more information, contact Mother Becky at  [email protected]
Icon Writing Group - On Holiday

Check out some photos of the activities of these busy kids here. For more information about this youth outreach project or any of the other programs at Christ Church for children and youth, please contact Mtr. Katie at [email protected].

Please bring them to  St. Ignatius and the Christ Church Parish Hall on the weekend of August 3-4, or drop off donations in the grocery cart, during regular business hours, at the church office in the Parish Hall. Items that are always needed include canned soups, vegetables, fruits and meals like Spaghettios. Thank you for your continued support of this ministry!

Kitchen and Pantry Clean-Up

A major kitchen and pantry cleaning is planned for August. Over the years we've accumulated an over supply of utensils clogging the cabinets and drawers. Some of the counters are covered with containers left from previous potluck dinners.

The plan is to take surplus items to Hello Goodbye for resale. If there's anything of importance to you that you want to retrieve, please check the kitchen as soon as convenient. We would like all items reclaimed by Sunday, August 18. For more information, please contact Junior Warden Alice Barlow at [email protected].
