The mission of the Government Affairs Committee is to hear and research any areas of interest to the Community and to make recommendations to the Board of Directors when necessary for taking a position on an issue. Issues may range from a local sales tax referendum to a potable water quality issue, to developments of regional impact, or to statewide bills affecting Home Rule in local governments. Any committee recommendations will be written by the Chair, or his/her designee on behalf of the committee through the Chamber CEO to the Board of Directors for consideration and final action.

Our July Business After Hours was simply magical as we celebrated Christmas in July hosted by The Salty Pelican Fish Shack! The Salty Sisters and their incredible staff outdid themselves with delicious food, festive holiday décor, and warm hospitality. Students enrolled in the A-rated Martin County School District will return to classes for the 2026–2027 school year on August 10, 2026! In preparation for the upcoming school year, the District has launched its comprehensive Back-to-School webpage featuring important information and resources for students and families. Families are encouraged to visit the District’s website to access information about bell schedules, dress code guidelines, meet the teacher and student orientation events, school meals, instructional calendars, supply lists, and more.                The Martin County Tax Collector, Ruth Pietruszewski, reminds business owners that as of July 1st, 2026 they could pay their business tax. This tax must be renewed by September 30th, 2026. Ruth Pietruszewski asks taxpayers to please help keep their cost and the cost of their government down by paying their taxes on time. Nest Quest

Take your sea turtle experience to the next level! Nest Quest is our newest pop-up sea turtle conservation experience, giving participants the opportunity to become citizen scientists. During a real sea turtle nest excavation, you'll work alongside biologists to collect data that helps us measure nesting success. Through this experience, you will also gain a deeper understanding of the research and conservation efforts that help protect these resilient species. Since every excavation is dependent on the timing of when eggs hatch, no two Nest Quest experiences are ever alike. THE BAILEY GALLERY

New Exhibition 

The Bailey Art Gallery is pleased to present a two-person exhibition featuring local painter Dan Mackin, whose highly stylized work spans multiple mediums, and photographer M.E. Gruber, who documented the burgeoning surf scene in Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast in the 1960s and early 70s. The exhibition opens Friday April 24, 2026 and runs through the summer. Mackin and Gruber share some commonalities. They both express their love for a life on the water, conveying it with a sense of color that is vibrant; seemingly technicolor in feel.
