JMAFCU's 2018 Annual Meeting was held on April 26, 2018, in Deerfield Beach. This year's meeting was attended by over 100 associates/members, the highest attendance ever. If you attended the meeting, thank you! If you did not have the opportunity to attend the meeting, the video of the entire meeting is available on our website, www.jmafcu.org, under About Us. Spring Is in the Air and
Benefits Are Blooming

The flowers are blooming, the birds are singing and the weather is beautiful. Springtime is in full bloom, and your credit union has the products and services to really help you enjoy spring!

Springtime is a great time for home improvements. If you need to paint, repair or refresh your home or add some beautiful landscaping to your yard, perhaps a Home Equity Line of Credit* could help!

Do your finances need spring cleaning? Maybe a consolidation loan could help. Consider rolling all of your high-interest-rate payments into one low-rate JMAFCU personal loan or to our low-rate Visa® credit card. If you are not disciplined, close the cards you don't need and create a payment strategy to lower your debt. Make a plan to pay off the credit cards with the highest interest rate first.

Planning some springtime travel? JMAFCU's SAFE Mobile banking will help you manage your finances on the go! SAFE Mobile with Mobile Deposit is a part of our E-suite of services. You must have SAFE IB to access your accounts via mobile banking.

JMAFCU is the place to go to get your spring off to a great start!

* The HELOC is only available on property located in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina or Missouri at this time. Subject to approval.

Don't Get Tripped Up by Trip Expenses
How to Spend Less on Spring Travels

Spring is here! Whether you're dreaming of white-sand beaches, snow-capped mountains or attraction-packed cities, there's one thing all these destinations have in common: they'll cost you. But exactly how much money you spend on your trip depends largely on the choices you make during your travels. Give these ideas a try to spend less and save more:
  • Limit restaurant meals. Consider only going out to eat for dinner and buying breakfasts and lunches at a local grocery store. (Be sure to take advantage of free breakfasts at your hotel if available.) Or, if you want to try as many restaurants as possible, split meals with your travel companion. Most restaurants serve huge portions anyway, so this could be a good way to cut costs and limit food waste.

  • Dress in layers. Even if you're traveling to a place that's known for warm weather, you should still have at least one long-sleeved shirt or sweatshirt in your suitcase. After all, you never know when a cold snap could hit - and it would be a huge waste of money to have to buy a sweatshirt on your trip when you probably have plenty at home already. Consider bringing sunglasses, a hat and an umbrella from home as well, as these are additional items travelers often find themselves needing.

  • Don't go to pricey attractions every single day. Sure, it's fun to check out a few of the hotspots your destination has to offer, but try to spend at least a few days doing free or low-cost activities. You could go for a drive, read a book at the beach, window shop or even play board games at a local park - all for the low cost of free!

  • Spend less on accommodations. This one can be a little tricky, because unless you're backpacking or camping, there's a good chance you're going to have to spend a good portion of your budget on a hotel or rental. But spending less is possible. Consider planning your trip in an area where you have a friend or family member that would open their home to you. Or maybe spend one or two evenings at a fancy hotel, but then switch to a more budget-friendly option for the remainder of your trip.

Obviously, you don't want to go overboard with saving and let it negatively impact the overall enjoyment of your hard-earned springtime travels. But keep in mind it is possible to have a fun-filled trip without completely abandoning your budget.
Also, remember: Before your travels, make sure you notify your JMAFCU branch of the dates and locations to which you will be traveling to ensure that your Visa CheckCard and credit card transactions will not be blocked. We want to make sure that while you are enjoying your travels, your money is still protected.

Spring Gift Giving
How to Give the Thrifty Way
The gift giving season is just around the corner. No, we're not talking about the holidays - it's almost time for graduation and
wedding season!

While your heart is telling you to show your loved ones how much you care, your budget is telling you no, no, no. Especially if you have multiple weddings and graduations to plan for, it's important to pay attention to mounting gift expenses.

Get the best of both worlds with these ideas that will save your budget and be a big hit:

    1. Choose Goodies - There are a host of monthly subscription boxes out there for every interest - health and fitness, makeup, books, spices, socks and more. Buy a year's subscription for a gift that keeps on giving!
    2. Craft a Cookbook - Collect an assortment of recipes that have special meaning or you think would be helpful (such as easy recipes for recent grads) and include related anecdotes for that special touch.
    3. Make Memories - Websites like Snapfish and Shutterfly make it easy to create a personalized photo album for your loved one. Or, get creative and design a mug, pillow or canvas print for extra "wow."
    4. Stock the Cupboards - Canned goods, baking basics, spices, pasta and other pantry staples are practical, useful and will be appreciated by anybody. Present them in a decorated box, basket or reusable bag for extra thoughtfulness.
    5. Monogram Towels - Keep it classy with fancy yet personal monogrammed towels. Many department stores offer inexpensive, or even free, monogramming services.
    6. Keep it Simple - If you're short on time and creativity, nothing beats a gift card. It's the best way to make sure your loved one gets just what they want.
