I don't have a lot to reflect on after 48 hours in Jerusalem. Actually, that is inaccurate. I have very much to reflect on, yet I have not had a lot of downtime for that
reflection. Our first two days of this pilgrimage to the Holy Land have been a whirlwind. At 6:30 am local time yesterday, we set off to begin our trip by visiting the West Wall and the tunnels beneath it. We spent the entire day in the Old City, exploring the area, and just a small amount of the historical and religious richness it holds.
We were able to walk the Via Dolorosa, which we know as The Way of the Cross, the historic route that pilgrims have walked for centuries, that Jesus is believed to have walked from his trial to his crucifixion; the same route that marks the 14 Stations of the Cross we still pray each Good Friday. Within a couple of hours, we went from the holiest of sites in Judaism to the holiest of sites in Christianity, as we visited the church of the Holy Sepulcher, which contains within its walls both the traditional site of Christ's crucifixion and Christ's burial. There are chapels built over both sites within the larger church and simply to be in the vicinity is awe-inspiring.

The women's study group meets Thursdays at 1:00 pm in the Parish Hall. They will start their next book,
Leaving Church: A Memoir of Faith, by Barbara Brown Taylor on Thursday, June 20. The book is
"...a beautifully crafted memoir . . . . There is a refreshing honesty . . . a slice of courage in a world that too often refuses to admit its vulnerability. . . . Leaving Church does not bash the church. It is a love story about letting go and learning to live with the mystery of what may happen next." -

These gifts come from the combined proceeds of the annual Tour of Homes this past March, as well as the year-long sales of the Christ Church cookbook. Many, many thanks to our Christ Church family and the many dedicated community volunteers who helped us with both projects this year. Lives will be touched thanks to your time and efforts! Ma'Kayla has continued her hard work and dedication to learning in college, making the Dean's List twice already. When she's home, she's a faithful member of St. Athanasius Episcopal Church in Brunswick, where she serves as an usher, a lector and is active in the youth program. Ma'Kayla says that her faith guides her and influences her choices in life. No matter the challenges she faces, Ma'kayla remembers that, "God is beside me and everything is going to be all right." We salute this fine young lady and wish her all the best in her academic pursuits and in her life!

Overcome By Grace
When all the easy words are said,
and maudlin musings have run their race,
I sit right here beside my bed,
filled with joy and shocked by grace.
How could this God I thought I knew so well
send me so many gifts and special sounds?
Rains that fall and strike like a bell?
The love and care of others all around?
