Prior Authorization Update
Any day now HB 1194 will be introduced by Representative Stephen Mentzer. A press conference is scheduled for Monday, October 28th, 11:00 a.m. at the State Capitol Building. If you can attend, the larger the crowd in support of the legislation, the better! Patient stories are going to be critical in moving this legislation through the House and eventually the Senate. Please share this information with your patients as their presence at the press conference will help the cause.   Additional details will be provided as we get closer to the date.

You can RSVP for the event by clicking here .

You may have heard that AADA member Dr. Howard Rogers testified before the House Small Business Committee about prior authorization burdens on Wednesday, September 11. He advocated on behalf of H.R. 3107, the “Increasing Seniors’ Access to Timely Care Act”, which was discussed as part of the Medicare ask during the Legislative Conference. Thanks to Dr. Rogers’ testimony and your advocacy on the Hill, this legislation has gained 13 new cosponsors. You can watch Dr. Rogers’ testimony and read his written testimony here . You can also support this effort by sending a letter about prior authorization to your Representative from the AADA Grassroots website here . Even better – share this link with your colleagues and ask them to contact their Representatives about the burden of prior authorization as well.
PAD Receives AADA Advocacy Grant
Recently, the PAD was notified that the AADA’s Council on Government Affairs and Health Policy (GAHP) awarded $10,000 to the Academy from AADA’s 2020 State Advocacy Grant Program (SAGP). The funds will be used toward our advocacy efforts with the indoor tanning legislation and other legislative issues that affect dermatologists and all physicians.
AAD President's Message - Board Member Removal
The American Academy of Dermatology and American Academy of Dermatology Association (AAD/A) Board of Directors has voted unanimously to present the membership with a resolution to remove Scott M. Dinehart, MD, FAAD, from his position as a Board member of the AAD/A. The AAD/A also received a petition from concerned members calling for the removal of this Board member.

The PAD wanted to share this information with our members in case you missed the message from the AAD. You can read the entire message here . This special removal vote will open on October 21 and close on October 29 . Because this is an elected position, removal requires a two-thirds vote by at least 10 percent of the voting membership. Please vote when the ballot comes to your inbox and/or mailbox.
