World Workplace 2026 Registration Open - Regional Roundup Contest

Which West Coast Chapter will bring the biggest crew to Anaheim? IFMA National is running a contest and the Chapter with the most registered attendees by October 19 will each win a prize package for their group. Let’s represent the Greater Seattle region at the conference!

This year, the education program comes together in a fresh shape: eight focused tracks built around the challenges and opportunities shaping FM today — Connected Buildings, Digital Futures powered by Facility Fusion, Leading Change, Facility Operations, Resilient Facilities, Future Workplaces, World Workplace Live and FM Solutions. Wherever your FM brain lights up, there's a track for that.

Regional News

Join the Smart Buildings Center for the 2026 Smart Buildings Exchange (SBX) to be held in downtown Seattle on November 9th & 10th, 2026! The conference theme, “Accelerating Performance at the Speed of Innovation,” reflects both the urgency of the moment and the opportunity in front of us. As technologies advance and pressures on the built environment intensify, buildings are being asked to do more: reduce costs, improve resilience, respond to grid needs, support occupant outcomes, and deliver stronger performance in an increasingly complex operating environment. SBX 2026 will create space not just for inspiration, but for debate, problem-solving, and clearer pathways to action.

At the event, attendees can expect to:

  • Discover proven strategies to reduce operating costs, improve building performance, and strengthen resilience
  • Hear about ways to prepare your buildings for an increasingly connected and electrified future
  • Learn about scalable solutions that reduce cost and risk
  • Gain insight into different financing pathways
  • Connect and network with building operators, owners, engineers, technology providers, utilities, policymakers, and energy professionals

Register to join us in Seattle on November 9th & 10th today!

IFMA members can receive 15% off registration by entering the code IFMASBX2026 at checkout.

Benchmarking & Energy Performance Data on Display

You can now download Energy Benchmarking data for data year 2025 on Seattle Open Data. Also available for viewing and transparency: your energy performance metrics on the Seattle Energy Benchmarking Map.

Check Your Mail!

Building owners who haven’t submitted or corrected errors for their 2025 benchmarking reports still have time. The City will mail notification letters to owners of noncompliant buildings in October. The letters will include claim codes to set up a new account in the Seattle Building & Energy Portal and complete benchmarking reports that were due June 1 under the new compliance process. A full list of noncompliant buildings is posted here.

Building Emissions Performance Standard (BEPS)

Coming in October: One-on-One BEPS Support for Eligible Building Owners from Climate Corps Fellows

We’re working with Strategic Energy Innovations (SEI) to offer free help to owners and operators of multifamily and commercial buildings over 20,000 square feet as they prepare for Seattle’s new Building Emissions Performance Standard (BEPS).

SEI Climate Corps Fellows can help clarify BEPS requirements, advise on compliance pathways, and support key steps such as Benchmarking Verification and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reporting. While doing so, they’ll gain valuable workforce experience, too.

The program launches mid-October. Until then, fill out an interest form to learn how custom one-on-one support can help you find your path to BEPS compliance.

Always Available for BEPS Support: Seattle Building & Energy Help Desk

The Buildings & Energy Help Desk staff is ready to support all building owners in finding their paths to BEPS compliance. Some of our Help Desk staff were recently featured on OSE’s LinkedIn - get to know who’s who helping you comply with Seattle’s building performance laws.

Contact the Help Desk at buildingenergy@seattle.gov or by calling 206-787-8484.
