A Note from Miss Thompson

Happy Monday, St. Agatha Families,

As September closes, we celebrate the progress, friendships, and growth that have already taken root. In fact, friendship is our virtue for October. Thank you for entrusting us with your children and for walking alongside us in their learning and faith journey. The best is yet to come!

Fun Run - September 29-October 8

What is the Fun Run?

During this fundraiser, families can earn donations online to help reach our school goal, and on the final day, all students will participate in our Fun Run to celebrate! Donors can pledge an amount by lap or for the run as a whole. We have set a school goal of $20,000 that will go toward student restroom upgrades and maintenance as well as bus maintenance.

How does it work?

Students will be completing up to 35 laps during their event to celebrate their hard work during the fundraiser. Students may run, walk, or jog during the event. There will be built in cool down periods and students will also have an area to rest if needed.

Families will gather donations through MyBooster.com by simply sharing your student’s page link with friends and family. Every share makes a difference!

In the days leading up to the event, students will have the chance to win daily prizes based on the amount of donations they bring in. Students will also enjoy 'Star Quest 5,' an exciting character-building adventure where they'll learn important values that help build character on the themes of Curiosity, Courage, Teamwork, Resilience, and Humility through space-themed figures and activities.

October 8 is our Fun Run day. Our Boosterthon team will be on campus to work the event in the courtyard. If it rains the event will be moved to the gym. Our current schedule is:

PreK-K: 10-10:30

Grades 1-5: 1-1:45

Grades 6-8: 1:45-2:30.

For the Middle school run, theirs will be a "color run." Students should wear old clothes for this event, as onlookers will be able to toss colorful powdered chalk toward the students (yes, it should wash out). If it rains, we will switch to a "glow run" in the gym. We encourage parents to attend the Oct. 8 Fun Run events. You can even participate with your child if you'd like. We want this to be a fun, team building event for our school.

What do parents need to do?

Register your child online at MyBooster.com. You can then send your child's link to friends and family for donations toward the event. If you have more than one child, each child should be registered with their own page and you can do that right from the same website - see video instructions below.

*Need help signing up? View video instructions.

For homerooms in which the entire class signs up, a frozen treat awaits them too.

And here’s the best part—if we hit our goal of $20,000, we will have an ice cream sundae party for the whole school. I know we can do it!

Spaghetti Supper - November 6

Our Spaghetti Supper planning committee has been hard at work preparing for this year’s event on November 6. Below, I have shared a sign up link for you to volunteer to help us make the evening a success. Please sign up for at least one shift, more if you can. Having volunteers where we need them really helps us pull off this event successfully.

This year, we are excited to introduce incentives for parents who work shifts at the event and sells all of their assigned tickets. Here are the details:

  • When you sign up and work your Spaghetti Supper shift, you will receive an Incentive raffle ticket. You will receive a ticket for every shift you work. These tickets will go into an Incentive Raffle drawing for various prizes: Up front seating at the Christmas Program, reserved parking at the Christmas program, gift card to Longhorn (courtesy of Kevin Boarman), and a get out of BINGO pass. The more tickets you earn, the better your chance to win a prize from our Incentive Raffle.

  • Toward the end of September, each family will also receive an envelope containing 10 dinner tickets and 2 raffle tickets to sell. The envelope has a value of $157.00. Selling all of your Supper tickets plus your 2 raffle tickets earns you an Inventive Raffle ticket (also in the envelope) to be in our parent drawing. Return the completed Incentive Raffle ticket with the $157.00 to the office once your tickets are sold. If you need additional tickets, please let Mrs. Gilbert in the office know.

We have a few extra yearbooks on sale. Each is $16.50. Come by the office and see Mrs. Gilbert if you'd like to purchase one.

Our Middle School students are also selling items from Creative Coffee as a means of helping to fund the 8th grade Yellowstone trip. Please support them if you can. Orders are delivered to your home and they arrive quickly.

Have a great week!

The Diocese of Lexington has advised its schools to follow CDC safety protocols regarding Covid-19. Below are the CDC’s guidelines as of March 1, 2024.

1.    Once testing positive for Covid-19 and/or Influenza, students are to stay out of the classroom for at least five (5) days. This is because children infected with the Omicron variant remained infectious for a median time of three (3) days after testing positive for the virus.

2.    After the five days, the person must be FEVER FREE/DIARRHEA FREE/VOMIT FREE/RASH FREE for 24 hours (without Tylenol or Motrin) BEFORE THEY MAY RETURN TO SCHOOL.

3.    Once people resume normal activities, they are encouraged to take additional prevention strategies for the next 5 days to curb disease spread, such as taking more steps for cleaner air, enhancing hygiene practices, wearing a well-fitting mask, keeping a distance from others, and/or getting tested for respiratory viruses.
