Worship

Learning About Worship

This coming Sunday, September 9, the children and youth in grades 1- 12 will meet in the church for Sunday school at the conclusion of the 9:15 am worship service (approximately 10:20 am). This will be a special time in which they will learn about the liturgy and music that make up a worship service and the roles that acolytes, clergy, choirs and musicians play in making worship a meaningful experience for all in attendance.

Formation

Growing in Our Understanding of Holy Eucharist

Worship is at the heart of all we do in the Episcopal Church. We gather to be renewed in our faith and formed in our life. We take great care with worship, seeking to make it our most excellent offering. But what is it we do when we celebrate the Holy Eucharist and how does it contribute to our spiritual growth? The Eucharist is one of the key catalysts helping people to move into deeper relationship with God and neighbor. We are fed and we grow. Join Father Tom on Wednesday, September 5, 12, 19 and 26, at 5:30 pm in the church to explore this mysterious, holy meal and how we receive strength for the spiritual journey. Please contact Father Tom at [email protected] for more information.

Adult Sunday Morning Class
The Adult Sunday morning class will be on hiatus for the next few weeks. Please keep class leader Bob Brown in your prayers as he recovers from surgery. Please contact the office at 912-638-8683 if you would like more information.

Men's Study Group
The Men's Discussion Group, which meets on Wednesdays at 10:30 am in the Youth Room will be reading  Our Towns: a 100,000 Mile Journey into the Heart of America , by James and Deborah Fallows.  " A vivid, surprising portrait of the civic and economic reinvention taking place in America, town by town and generally out of view of the national media. A realistically positive and provocative view of the country between its coasts.

For the last five years, James and Deborah Fallows have been traveling across America in a single-engine prop airplane. Visiting dozens of towns, they have met hundreds of civic leaders, workers, immigrants, educators, environmentalists, artists, public servants, librarians, business people, city planners, students, and entrepreneurs to take the pulse and understand the prospects of places that usually draw notice only after a disaster or during a political campaign. Our Towns is the story of their journey-and an account of a country busy remaking itself."

Books will be available in the church office for $21. Please contact Father Tom at [email protected], for more information.

Daughters of the King
The Daughters of the King will meet next on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at 5:45 pm, in the Parish House. For more information, please contact Mother Ashton at [email protected].
