I Have a Saint! Now What?
Dear Saints,
In the previous newsletter, I introduced Going Deeper with the Saints. Already more than 60 folks have signed up on our big saint list, and I bet even more have a saint card.
Now it is time to learn about your saint, if you haven't started. When did they live, and in what circumstances? When did they get baptized, or find new life in Jesus Christ? What were their practices of holiness? Could you have been friends with your saint?
Do you have a favorite quotation from your saint? Were they heroic, or simply faithful, or both? What are you learning that is drawing you deeper into faith? Could you connect with your saint in a human way? What would your saint say to you? What would you say?
My saint is Simon the Zealot. There is an awful lot we *don't* know about him, which is often the case for those 1st century saints. And there are multiple traditions with stories about him, so I'm still reading those stories. One of the traditions says he was martyred by being sawed in half. Longitudinally. His symbol is a big saw--images of him show the saw as tall as he is. Yikes.
Pretty soon we'll have some invitations to share about your saint when we're in worship, or at coffee hour. So if you learn something amazingly beautiful, or tragic, or holy, hang onto that, and get ready to share.
Check it all out on our website www.saintaidans.org/deeper-saints-2026
Faithfully yours,

Sign Up Central at St. Aidan's in the Parish Hall
Come check out Sign Up Central as you are finding ways to serve and connect in ministry. This is where you can share your gifts with the church and help us take care of our household of God, fulfilling our baptismal promises.
There are regular opportunities, supporting our Sunday worship, and needs that are more occasional--special services, such as funerals, Christmas, Easter and more, and needs that invite your skills for leadership--like Stewardship, Endowments, and Vestry.
Ministry leaders will provide training, and some ministries require confirmation and other training.

Eucharistic Visitors — An Invitation To Serve
Twice each month, on 1st and 3rd Sunday’s, four to eight lay and clergy members of the congregation are sent forth from the 10 AM service to visit home bound parishioners and give them communion. Currently, 17 people are being served through this ministry once or twice each month.
Both the Eucharistic Visitor and parishioner find themselves blessed in this ministry.
Each visit is a two-fold gift of being present in loving community with the person being seen and in offering the spiritual nourishment of Christ’s love through communion.
If you feel drawn to serve your church family in this way or would like to learn more
about this ministry, please contact Fr. Steve. Also, let him know if you would like to
simply accompany a Eucharistic Visitor on these visits, with no other responsibility
except to be another loving presence. Training is required and the Bishop’s Office has guidelines that need to be followed, but if you sense a “tug” towards this ministry, please find a time to chat with Fr. Steve about it.
We will have a fellowship lunch together in October with Eucharistic Visitors--talk to Fr. Steve soon so we can include you!

Volunteer to help with parking during football games
We need 4-6 volunteers every game day to help manage our parking lot. Please reach out to bal43rd@gmail.com to let him know what game you can volunteer for, and he'll get you all the information you need.
Every individual who volunteers for a game is giving the equivalent of thousands of dollars toward the St. Aidan’s operating budget. This is another way to pledge and to support your church. Check the church calendar for updated kickoff times, and we will keep you informed as the times are announced.

Last Chance to Sign Up for Dinner Groups this Fall TODAY!
Please join St. Aidan’s for the third year of Dinner Groups. If you participated in St. Aidan's dinner groups last year, we hope you enjoyed it and will sign up again. If not, but wish you had or are new to the church, this is your chance!
The idea is for St. Aidan’s members to get to know one another beyond the occasional Sunday conversation — and to do that over a shared meal. Dinner groups are a great way to broaden your circle and gain a greater sense of community. Dinner groups consist of 6-8 members and will meet 5-6 times per year. Each group decides where and when to meet (it does not have to be at someone's house; past groups have met at restaurants and parks as well as peoples homes). Plus, it's not always dinner! If lunch works better, there is probably a group for that!
We’d like to have our first set of gatherings in October, so NOW is the time to fill out the survey using this link St. Aidan's Dinner Groups
The deadline to sign up is TODAY October 5th.
