START-PLP offers Parent Leadership Development for parents of children ages birth to 8-years old statewide who are ready and willing to be a voice for children and families in their County Councils for Young Children or other decision-making groups. The workshop series will focus on three areas:

•       Public Policy Advocacy
•       Serving on Groups (SOG)
•       Action Planning


**Certificates will be issued upon completion of all three sections. **

Story-Time Boot Camp
November 7th, 8th, or 9th
NJEA Teacher convention weekend is a time for teachers to sharpen their skills and stay current in their subject areas. Well, guess what? As our children’s’ first teachers, we as parents need to sharpen our skills, too! This child-friendly, interactive workshop will give you the chance to stay up to date on ways to build vocabulary and reading skills at home. You are invited to bring your children to this half-day workshop, where together you will:
  • Practice reading together in a way that honors your child’s age and stage
  • Learn ways to make your time together even more enjoyable
  • Learn to make shared reading time a two-way conversation
  • Create crafts and play games that build vocabulary and print awareness


STILL TIME TO REGISTER YOURSELF AND YOUR YOUNG ADULT

This free conference will provide information to both youth/young adults and their parents on education rights, developing the Transition Plan, the importance of self-advocacy and supported decision-making, adult services and more. Join us to learn strategies that will help your family prepare for the future.

Gloucester County Parents Talk Special Education
Join us for this parent leadership roundtable. You’ll have the opportunity to meet with other parent leaders, school professionals and community members to share information, resources, tips and strategies to build skills and knowledge. Parents, professionals and system partners can work together to improve programs and outcomes for children with disabilities.
Our meeting will feature guest speaker, James McBee, the Child Study Team Supervisor for Gloucester County . He will discuss the role of the County CST Supervisor and answer questions about when how to best engage with his office.
