Dear Friends,

My heartfelt thanks to all who have made donations in honor of my granddaughter Zoe on the occasion of her becoming a bat-mitzvah. The OJC community has helped to nurture Zoe's love of and commitment to Judaism, and it was a joy to share with you this important milestone in Zoe's Jewish journey.

SUPPORT LEAH SHEFSKY'S ROLLING BOOK CART FOR KIDS

Hi! I’m Leah Shefsky! I have a really special project I’m working on to help families in the NICU where I was born and lived for 97 days as a baby. For my Bat Mitzvah Project and also for my Girl Scout Silver Award, I am starting a project called “Leah’s Little Library”. Babies’ brain development depends on experiencing language starting at birth.

VOTE MERCAZ

Voting for the World Zionist Congress has opened and continues through May 4. The OJC is aligned with MERCAZ USA, the Zionist Organization of the American Conservative/Masorti Movement and we need all our congregants and their families to vote for the MERCAZ slate in order to support funding for the Movement's goals which include support for combatting antisemitism, pluralism and strengthening the bonds between American Jews and Israel . You will be receiving information in the next couple of weeks about how to register and vote: it only takes "5 minutes and $5". In the meantime, if you have any questions or wish to volunteer in our getting out the vote effort, please contact Lloyd Fishman at lloydf@optonline.net or 201-314-1861.
