The Oakland Mills Food Pantry was recently featured in the HCPSS news (read HERE). We continue to take donations at The Other Barn for the food pantry. They will also have an opportunity to do a gallery walk and talk with teachers from all content areas, as well as other high school staff.

Event will include an indoor sing a long, crafts and story time, as well as an indoor "snowball" fight. The student Safety Patrol will be collecting items to make "Winter Bags" for emergency outreach organizations. Please consider bringing new mittens, hats, gloves, socks and/or granola bars to donate at the event.

Apply Now for Prekindergarten

HCPSS is currently accepting applications for enrollment in its half-day and full-day prekindergarten programs. Children must be four years old by September 1, 2022 to be considered for enrollment. All families who meet first-priority criteria (outlined in the application) will be granted enrollment. As space allows, families with household incomes up to 300% of the Federal Poverty Level or who meet other second priority criteria may be enrolled.

Road to Kindergarten information Sessions

Held for families of children who will begin kindergarten in Fall 2023. Sessions are 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and are offered on the following dates:

  • January 19th: Centennial High School
  • January 24th: Wilde Lake High School
  • January 26th: Oakland Mills High School
  • SNOW DATE: Thursday, February 2nd Oakland Mills High School

Community Engagement Opportunities for School Start Times Decision

The Howard County Board of Education is offering multiple opportunities for all stakeholders to engage in the decision about whether to shift school start times for the 2023-2024 school year. Information related to this process and the Board’s upcoming decision may be found on the school system’s website. Additionally, two potential school-by-school start times charts are available online for community members to review. 

Class of 2023 Graduations

May 18th through June 1st, 2023

HCPSS has confirmed the window for the 2023 high school graduations. Ceremonies will be held in person at Merriweather Post Pavilion, with the exception of Cedar Lane School, which will be held at the school.

Oakland Mills United (OMU) is a community group started by recent OMHS graduates that advocates for the OM community and its schools and offers tutoring and college help. OMCA is a proud partner with OMU.
