Virtual Open House: Career Opportunities in Special Education

HCPSS is co-sponsoring a countywide virtual open house, showcasing career opportunities in special education, among other positions. Attendees will gain information about positions and the service delivery model; learn about the application process; and receive details on benefits, support systems, and next steps. Pre-registration is not required.

Wellness Workshop: How Do Parents Talk to Teens about Substance Use?

June 11, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

HCPSS parents/guardians are invited to take part in this free, virtual program to discuss the challenges of youth substance use. Register online

2025-2026 Kindergarten Registration Now Open

Parents/guardians can now begin the kindergarten enrollment process online for the 2025-2026 school year. Parents/guardians of children who will be five on or before Sept. 1 must enroll their children in kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year.

Open to all children 18 years and younger. No applications, enrollment, or fees required, but children must be present to receive free meals.

Student volunteers needed for LakeFest 2025!

The Columbia Festival of the Arts (CFA) would like to invite your middle and high school students to support the artists and the festivalgoers at LakeFest 2025. Students must be at least 13 years old and, if under 16, must be accompanied by a parent. Volunteers may help visual artists load and unload their art & supplies and set up their booths or provide relief to artists who need to leave to get lunch or take a quick break. They will have the opportunity to network with artists and hear first-hand accounts of their journeys to becoming an artist and perfecting their craft. Oakland Mills Online (OMO) is an online social learning platform founded by Oakland Mills families to keep our community connected while we are socially isolated.

Oakland Mills Local Leadership Team's mission is to make the village of Oakland Mills an inclusive, equitable and connected community that values and supports the healthy development of all children, youth and families.

HC DrugFree provides resources and education on prevention, treatment, recovery, and health and wellness to help Howard County residents develop knowledge and skills to understand and address behavioral health (substance use and mental health) disorders. HC DrugFree website

Oakland Mills United (OMU) is a community group started by recent OMHS graduates that advocates for the OM community and its schools and offers tutoring and college help. OMCA is a proud partner with OMU.
