Message from Principal Nancy Thompson
July 13, 2022

Thank you to the residents of Thunder Hill Road, Whiteacre Road, and Basket Ring Road for your patience as the process of demolishing the former Talbott Springs Elementary School building and the work of milling the front and sides of the school continues.

The new Talbott Springs Elementary School will open in August 2022 as a well deserved beautiful new school building in our neighborhood. I appreciate the support of the Oakland Mills Village Association Board of Directors during this moment of challenge and hope.

Have a safe and enjoyable summer!
Nancy Thompson, Principal
Talbott Springs Elementary School

TSES Construction Update
July 6, 2022

TSES Replacement School Construction continues as the current building is being taken down. After a couple of weeks of 'soft demolition' the cranes have come in to take down the original Talbott Springs Elementary School building. This is both an exciting and reflective moment for the TSES community! There are many memories that were created during the 49 years staff members, students and families joined as a community with the common goal of student learning and the development of relationships. We are thankful to those members of our community who have provided care and support for this corner of Oakland Mills!

As we watch the original TSES building coming down, we are also lifting hope for the educational opportunities that the new TSES building will provide. The new TSES building is visually beautiful with state of the art elementary school learning and gathering spaces. The TSES staff is so excited about the possibilities that lie ahead.

We are now developing plans for student orientations and welcome back to school events. The timing of the events is dependent on when the occupancy permits are approved. Please watch for messaging from TSES regarding the dates/times of the events.

Currently, TSES School Administrators and Office Staff are working from the Media Center at Oakland Mills High School located at 9410 Kilimanjaro Road. We can be reached at 410-313-6915 or through email:

Please share this information with any of your neighbors who might need to register children for school!

Thank you for your care and support as we transition to our new Talbott Springs Elementary School this summer!

Sincerely,
Nancy Thompson, Principal
Derek Lewis, Assistant Principal
Lauran Hoffman, Principal's Secretary

The community extends our deepest sympathy to the family Josseline Rivas Rivera. Josseline had just completed the 5th grade at TSES.
