Is this a ministry opportunity for us?

Nearly 100,000 teens and young adults were interviewed to learn more about their worldview, especially surrounding Christianity, religion and culture. See their response when asked the question: "Do you believe someone from an older generation could provide you with guidance on any of the following?"

For close to 40 years Barna Group has become a go-to source for insights about faith and culture, leadership and vocation, and generations. One of its primary missions has been to understand emerging generations—specifically Gen Z and Millennials in the United States—and discover how to best equip them to grow and share their faith.

On Growing Older...

Author Richard Bimler came up with a "myth list" on growing older. He suggested to discuss these thoughts with people younger and older than us. Listen to their views. Listen for any sign that, to people around you, aging gracefully is hype or hope. Then, have fun and choose hope!

  • You can't teach an old dog new tricks.
  • Thinking slows up as you age.
  • All old people are wise.
  • Old age is an illness.
  • Old people are eccentric.
  • You won't live long if your parents didn't.
  • Intelligence declines with age.
  • Old people want to become young.
  • When you get old, you won't feel well.
  • Old people are more likely to become depressed.
