This Week's Gospel Reading with Points to Ponder
Mark 8:27-38
27 Jesus went on with his disciples to the villages of Caesarea Philippi; and on the way he asked his disciples, "Who do people say that I am?" 28 And they answered him, "John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets." 29 He asked them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter answered him, "You are the Messiah." 30 And he sternly ordered them not to tell anyone about him. 31 Then he began to teach them that the Son of Man must undergo great suffering, and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. 32 He said all this quite openly. Calling all great bakers!!  We need a few special people to step up and prepare a dessert for next week's lunch (September 16th) for God's Work, Our Hands Sunday.
We will be having lunch after the 11:11 service and our neighbors from Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church will be joining us to hear about the progress in the cemetery and to enjoy some great music and fellowship.  After lunch there will be a workday in the cemetery for those who choose to participate.
EVERYONE is welcome!!

If you are able and willing to provide a dessert, please let me know ASAP.  The first 8 responses are in!!
Email Jennifer Saye at jsaye@charter.net
She will be making a banana pudding.
And there will be a second chance to hone your culinary skills for our 5th Sunday celebration coming up on September 30. More next week on that!

Please join us on Sunday afternoon, September 23 starting at 3:00 pm for some yummy ice cream and toppings - maybe even a cookie or two. We will have some low sugar/low carb choices too.
Amanda Sachitello will be leading us in an old fashioned hymn sing so be thinking about your favorites. AND our youth band might be favoring us with a couple tunes also!
Hope to see you there.
