A Note From The CEO | Summertime Opportunity
It never ceases to amaze how time seems to fly by. Another year has passed with another school year in the books. While summer is upon us, that does not mean the world of child care and early learning stops. We know there are still families in need, providers in search of new staff, and educators working to provide care throughout the summer.

At Smart Start of Forsyth County, we are excited to host an event that will provide resources, information, and opportunity for all of these areas and needs. YOU are invited to join us for our Health, Job & Education Fair on Friday, June 18 from 11am-6pm at Bolton Park in Winston-Salem.

As the pandemic fades and restrictions lessen, I am thrilled for our staff and programs to broaden our reach out into Forsyth County. We look forward to meeting each one of you, hearing how we can support your needs, and moving forward to raise Forsyth County.

With appreciation,

Louis A. Finney Jr., CEO
Community Health, Job & Education Fair
Be sure to join us on Friday, June 18 from 11am - 6pm!

Hot dogs and snacks will be served from 11:30am-1pm and 4-5:30pm. Raffle items include swag from the Winston-Salem Dash, tickets to Wet 'n Wild North Carolina, gift cards to local supermarkets, and more! We will be giving away diapers, offering activities for kiddos that include Juneteenth and Father's Day Arts & Crafts, and much more. We look forward to sharing information about our programs, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, local child care job opportunities, and hosting numerous community partners.
Family Child Care Home Expansion Project
Are you interested in opening a Family Child Care Home (FCCH) in Forsyth County? The Family Child Care Home Expansion Project could be the opportunity you are looking for.

Through a grant application process, grants of up to $2,700 will be provided to 5 awardees. The grant will support individuals in creating sustainable, high-quality teaching and business practices while encouraging an increase in available full-time child care slots in areas of Forsyth County experiencing child care deserts. The grantees’ family child care homes would serve children 0-5 years of age. Applications will be accepted on a rolling bases, though only 5 grants are awarded, so do not let this opportunity slip away.

Grantees will be required to apply for a NC Division of Child Development and Early Education (DCDEE) license for a family child care home within 9 months of the grant award. If requirements are not met, grant funds are to be returned.
