DIOCESAN NEWS AND HAPPENINGS
Save the Date!
Again this year, Bishop Mark has invited our diocese to participate in
Thy Kingdom Come, a global prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray from Ascension to Pentecost for more people to come to know Jesus.

Watch this video from Thy Kingdom Come Project Director, Emma Buchan, as she shares a few ideas for your church to consider.
Ways your church can be involved in Thy Kingdom Come 2022
How will your church be involved in TKC this year?

Explore a range of ideas for your church including creative prayer stations, continuous prayer (24/1 or 24/7)  and so much more.
There's still time to order your prayer resources! Unfortunately all the free resources are gone but you can still order your printed resources here.

Alternatively, why not download the Novena and Prayer Journal, both available from our website here, and free copies of the Cheeky Pandas books can be ordered here (postage and packing not included).
TKC around the world

Each week, Thy Kingdom Come will be sharing a video from different churches around the world, discussing their plans for this year's Thy Kingdom Come. Watch this wonderful video from a diocese in Sri Lanka, encouraging their congregation to go on 'prayer drives', for 30 mins each day, praying for their local community. What are your plans for this year? Please do share with us.

'Persevering in Prayer'

Watch testimonies here from the recently concluded 'Persevering in Prayer' series. This includes the mother who prayed for her son’s salvation for 40 years,
the teacher who prayed for her pupils going through a difficult time with an incredible outcome to someone praying daily - for 10 years - for a seemingly impossible situation to be redeemed. May these testimonies serve as an encouragement to stir your faith to pray during these 11 days and beyond.

'Pray continually...' 1 Thessalonians 5:17

 GET BACK IN THE HABIT!

If your parish has lost the habit of regular UTO in-gatherings during the pandemic, I urge you to consider restoring this important ministry. Experience the psychological, spiritual, and physical benefits of gratitude for yourself and help your fellow parishioners enjoy those benefits as well.
Set a date for a Spring In-Gathering and encourage parishioners to drop thankful coins in their UTO blue boxes. If some folks don’t like bothering with change, it’s okay to write a thankful check or donate online! All those donations, in whatever form, will bring blessings to others in the form of grants.

The Spring In-Gathering for UTO will be May 29 or any Sunday close to that date that is convenient for your parish.

You can make UTO Sunday memorable by including a special UTO Litany in the service. You can order a booklet of UTO Litanies from the national UTO website.

Contact Diane Gabbard at dianegabbard@gmail.com with any questions or if you would like me to mail you a copy of the booklet of UTO Litanies.

What is a UTO In-Gathering, exactly? Contact Diane Gabbard to learn more.

EVENTS AT THE CATHEDRAL DOMAIN
Did you know The Cathedral Domain has its own Facebook page?
at the Cathedral Domain
What is St. George’s Day?
It is an opportunity for individuals and families from across the Diocese to come together in the “heart” of our Diocese, at the home of the Cathedral of St. George the Martyr, for a day (or weekend) of fellowship, worship, and fun.
All are invited to join us for this celebration of creation on a beautiful spring day!

There will be hiking, games, a scavenger hunt, music, food, fellowship, worship, or just come sit in a rocker on the porch. You can bring your own picnic basket or purchase a freshly smoked barbeque lunch from the Dining Hall. If you would like to extend the experience, you can register to stay Friday and/or Saturday night.

Prices are a per person cost. The fee for staying in the Burton building is for 1 person sharing a room.

Activities will begin early in the morning and continue throughout the day. The celebration of the Eucharist will begin at 1:30 PM in the Cathedral of St. George the Martyr (please bring your mask to wear during the service and while you are inside a building). Sunset Compline around 8:00 pm, followed by a roaring campfire around 9:00 pm. See full schedule HERE.

Please plan to make bids at the Youth Scholarship Silent Auction to help raise money to support our youth as they represent our Diocese at Provincial and National Youth events. It is requested that each church or organization in the diocese donate a gift basket or something nice for this year's silent auction. Examples from previous auctions are stained glass work, beautiful quilts, hand-painted items, hand-knitted scarves and caps, gift certificates for dining out or movies, and cleverly themed baskets. Please attach a card listing the item that is to be auctioned, who is donating the item and an approximate cost of the item.

If approaching from I-75, please be aware of work being done on the bridge in Irvine, and look for detour signs.

For more information about the event, please see the Official St. George's Day flyer, or contact Cindy Sigmon, Diocesan Youth Missioner/Program Director, at csigmon@diolex.org.
