2024 United Thank Offering Grant Applications Now Available

Matthew 25:36 " I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” (NIV)

The 2024 UTO Annual Grant Application and supporting materials are available on the national UTO website at United Thank Offering – The Episcopal Church.

The deadline for submitting your grant application to the office of the Diocese of Lexington is Friday, January 5, 2024. All applications must be submitted electronically and require a Bishop’s approval.

Over a three-year period, The United Thank Offering, in the spirit of Matthew 25:36, will focus on areas of ministry that welcome the stranger and serve those who society has left out and left behind. The focus for this year’s grant applications is “the stranger” that Jesus mentions, offering welcome and inclusivity.

Suggested projects are those that welcome people with differences that cause isolation (culture, life experience, disability, mental health, etc.) in new ways that are meaningful and deemed necessary by that community and projects that encourage truth telling, acknowledging historic trauma, and establishing a pathway towards healing.

New this year will be short instructional videos that explain each step of the grant submission process. With the availability of these videos all webinars will be just Q&A sessions. Videos will be available starting August 1 at www.unitedthankoffering.com/apply.

Starting in September there will be open office hours each month to work with applicants on their drafts. Our National UTO Staff Officer, Rev. Heather Melton, graciously gives her time to review applications and budgets. The earlier your application is completed the more time to complete revisions and the stronger your application will be.

The last day to submit a full draft application for review is January 9, 2024; the last day to submit a budget for review is January 12, 2024; the last day to submit an application for completeness check is January 17, 2024.

Please take the time to read the materials regarding the submission process; there are some changes this year. As you know, careful attention to UTO grant application guidelines is essential!

If you have questions about the granting process, contact Diane Gabbard, Diocesan UTO Coordinator, at dianegabbard@gmail.com.
