February Dinner Church

Saint Raphael Episcopal Church will host Dinner Church, February 25, 2023, at 5:30 pm. The program for the evening will include Rev. Helen serving Eucharist, Taize music, a discussion on Justice Ministry with BUILD, and a meal together. Taize music has been a foundational part of contemplative prayer and provides the foundation for contemplation, candlelight, and stillness with simple refrains repeated by the whole assembly. We invite you to join us as we pray and sing together in meditative music that calms the mind and opens the soul to God. All are invited to attend. For reservations, please RSVP to amy.smereck@gmail.com or call the Church at 859-255-4987.

Signups Needed by March 1
|
|
|
From Cindy Sigmon (Diocesan Youth Missioner):
Youth who are interested in attending this event with a delegation from the Episcopal Diocese of Lexington need to contact me no later than March 1st. That will give me time to get all the registrations in order to send in to the National registrar.
I am also looking for a couple of great adults who might be interested going and being chaperones for the delegation of youth from the Diocese of Lexington.
Requirements of the adults that attend with our youth are as follows:
- Must have taken the Online Prevention of Sexual Misconduct training through Presidium Academy.
- Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to drive a 15-passenger bus with our delegation aboard.
- Must participate in the events at EYE23 and be a good role model for our youth.
It really is a great experience. If you cannot plan to do this, do you have any suggestions for anybody else? Please let me know if you can answer the call ASAP. Email me at csigmon58@aol.com.
See a flyer of the event by clicking here.

Grace and peace be with you all this Epiphany. This year has not started off mildly. Our prayers at Episcopal Relief & Development are for all people in the US affected by flooding in the West, the recent mass shootings, and tornadoes across the south in Alabama, Texas and Louisiana. Please join us in prayer as we check in and work with partners to assess their varying needs. Please also pray for our long-term recovery programs this year as we work to build stronger networks across communities to make future responses happen more quickly, equitably and sustainably. Our partners will continue to address the economic, spiritual, social and mental effects of disasters on vulnerable groups, including unhoused, older adults, undocumented workers and people who live in geographically isolated areas. Working Together for Lasting Change, we are moving closer to having the world that God intended for us.

It is common for creation care ministry to operate disconnected from the larger community life of prayer, worship, fellowship and faith. How might faith communities embody a more full inclusion of all creation in their lives of faith, worship and witness?
Overview: “Green Teams” in churches often find themselves operating in small corners of church life. The concerns and opportunities of creation care often fail to permeate the church’s core life of worship, fellowship, and proclamation. This course will explore ways to expand creation care beyond committee actions, material stewardship, and personal life adjustments, into a more integrated expression of whole church life.

Members Named to the Constituting Group
for Episcopal Church Coalition for Racial Equity and Justice
|
|
Office of Public Affairs
Less than a year after a coalition was first proposed to focus on The Episcopal Church’s racial equity and justice work, members of the constituting group—representing the broad diversity of the church—have been appointed by the presiding bishop and president of the House of Deputies.
The 80th General Convention voted to establish the Episcopal Coalition for Racial Equity and Justice in July, approving a resolution first unveiled in a March 2022 report by the Presiding Officers’ Working Group on Truth-Telling, Reckoning, and Healing, of which House of Deputies President Julia Ayala Harris was a member.
The coalition is described as an organizing and networking body “of Episcopal dioceses, parishes, organizations, and individuals dedicated to the work of becoming the Beloved Community.”
