May 2025

Hello Suleica,

Happy May! This month is brimming with meaningful celebrations and wonderful opportunities to connect as a community.

First off, a very happy Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month to everyone! I'm excited about upcoming cultural events like the AAPI Heritage Night Celebration and the vibrant Multicultural Festival. I encourage you to find out how you can join in the fun!

These moments honoring our diverse cultures that bring us together as neighbors are truly important to me, and I'm looking forward to celebrating alongside you.

Also, a quick note about the Gwinnett Animal Control Hearing Board. This vital board reviews appeals related to dangerous or vicious dog classifications, carefully considering information to reach fair outcomes according to our County ordinances. If you're interested in contributing to animal welfare in our community, the deadline to apply is Wednesday, June 18.

As always, your thoughts and ideas on how we can make our district even better are invaluable. Please feel free to connect with my office anytime at Ben.Ku@GwinnettCounty.com.

Ride Gwinnett to merge services with Xpress

Beginning Monday, June 16, Ride Gwinnett commuter service will merge operations with Xpress, a regional commuter bus service operated by the Atlanta-region Transit Link Authority. Current Ride Gwinnett commuter customers are encouraged to review the upcoming service changes and plan for a smooth transition to Xpress.

These updates are part of the region's systemwide service changes to improve efficiency in response to decreased ridership and shifts in commute patterns following the pandemic. Visit our commuter page for more information.

Veterans paired with support animals

Veterans can foster a loving companion for a temporary or permanent home through Gwinnett's Paws of Service program. This initiative provides active-duty military personnel and retired U.S. veterans the opportunity to foster shelter animals for emotional support, with the possibility of adoption.

The Gwinnett County Animal Welfare covers all pet food and medical expenses at no cost to the foster family. If you're interested in learning more about this rewarding program or wish to apply, please contact 770.339.3200 or email AnimalWelfare@GwinnettCounty.com.
