Join us in honoring Martin Luther King Jr. by lending a hand during our MLK Days of Service. From habitat beautification with Gwinnett Parks & Recreation to distributing food to those in need, there are several opportunities for you to make a positive impact on your community.

Get a grant toward your first home

If you're a first-time homebuyer, you might be eligible for Gwinnett’s Homestretch Down Payment Assistance Program! New or existing Gwinnett residents aspiring to own a home can receive down payment assistance of up to $10,000 as a five-year deferred payment loan with 0% interest.

To qualify, the home must be located within Gwinnett County and should not exceed $349,000 for an existing home or $410,000 for new construction. Visit GwinnettCounty.com/HomestretchDPA for a list of eligibility requirements and to apply.

Join the Zoning Board of Appeals

Apply to be a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals and help shape our vibrant community! As a member of this board you would hear and decide cases appealing zoning decisions or exceptions and variances to the Unified Development Ordinance.

Members serve one-year terms with monthly meetings. Applications are due Wednesday, January 21. No prior experience necessary—just a commitment to your neighbors and a desire to improve our district. Please contact ZBA@GwinnettCounty.com for more information.

Gwinnett 101 Citizens Academy is a 12-week program that aims to develop and nurture informed and engaged residents, students, and business owners in our county. Participants will interact with County government leaders, visit County facilities to get a glimpse of how we operate, and build a network with others who live, work, and learn in Gwinnett.

Bring One for the Chipper!

Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful will once again host their Christmas tree mulching event, Bring One for the Chipper. Rather than placing your live tree by the curb after the holidays, the eco-friendly organization encourages residents to take part in one of the largest "treecycling" events in Georgia!

Drop off live trees at designated Fire Stations around the county from now until January 21. Trees must be free of lights, tinsel, decorations, and tree stands before they are dropped off.

GeoGwinnett: Park and Seek Challenge

Get ready for an adventure like no other! To celebrate their 40th anniversary, Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation is inviting you to join the GeoGwinnett: Park and Seek Challenge — a year-long, accessible geocaching experience across our beautiful county parks.

Explore 16 unique Gwinnett parks throughout the year and discover hidden geocaches placed just for this challenge. Each cache brings you closer to uncovering the natural wonders, scenic trails, and hidden gems of our award-winning park system. Find all 16 by the end of 2026, and you'll earn a special commemorative prize!
