Hello Suleica,
Happy April!
As we head into spring, I hope you and your loved ones enjoy some outdoor activities across Gwinnett while fending off the pollen.
At the end of March, I had the privilege of attending the birthday party of Mr. James Davis, a WWII veteran of Snellville who turned 102 years old and presented him with a special letter (photo below). It was a wonderful day celebrating him.
I want to thank those who attended one or both of my March Town Halls. We had great discussions on many topics such as transportation, crime rates, parks and recreation, water resources, and more. One area that was addressed at both town halls was littering. Did you know that Gwinnett County has a littering ordinance that makes it illegal to litter on public or private property except for exceptions such as placing trash in designated containers or with an owner's consent?
Lastly, I would like to congratulate the following individuals who I've appointed to different boards, authorities, and committees:
- Gwinnett County Airport Authority: Kenneth Green
- Gwinnett County Planning Commission: Katrina Fellows
- Gwinnett County Public Library Board of Trustees: Georgeanna Kelly
- Gwinnett County Water and Sewerage Authority: Henry Rawls
- Gwinnett Historical Restoration and Preservation Board: Baron Griffin
- Gwinnett County Police Citizens Advisory Board: Jeffree Fauntleroy
Keep reading below to learn more about picking up litter, upcoming events, and important dates in April.
