April 2026

District 4 Commissioner Matthew Holtkamp

Happy spring, District 4!

Thank you to all who attended my State of District 4 Town Hall at The Water Tower last month. The level of civic engagement was outstanding, and I appreciate the thoughtful questions and feedback we received on key topics like transportation, public safety, and planning and development. For those who were unable to join us, the video is now available for viewing on demand.

Earlier this year, our community suffered a profound loss. Gwinnett Police Officer Pradeep Tamang gave his life in service to this county. His sacrifice is a reminder that the safety we often take for granted has a very real human cost. I'd ask that you join me to pray for the continued recovery of Master Police Officer David Reed, who was also injured. We honor that sacrifice by continuing the work of making this community a safe, prosperous place to call home.

On Wednesday, April 29, I will also be holding my first Local Voices, Local Places event for 2026. It'll be held from 7:30pm to 8:30pm at un'Wined & Tap located at 991 Peachtree-Industrial Boulevard in Suwanee.

Then keep reading below for ways in which you can get involved and help strengthen District 4 and our county.

Help shape the future of our community

The Atlanta Regional Commission is conducting a 2026 Lifelong Communities Survey aimed at understanding what people need to live well in their communities at every stage of life – from young families to older adults. This survey is meant to collect feedback on what supports and features people would like as they age. It covers topics such as housing and accessibility, transportation and walkability, community connections, and what matters most to you.

Your input helps guide planning decisions, future improvements, and potential funding opportunities that will directly impact our community. As Gwinnett residents, this is an opportunity to ensure your voices are reflected in future planning.

If you are also interested in sharing a more in-depth perspective on aging in your community, sign up to join an upcoming focus group. Contact lifelongcommunities@atlantaregional.org with any questions.
